The Brillion, Chilton, and New Holstein Police Departments, the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance from REACH, Calumet County’s substance misuse prevention coalition, conducted alcohol age compliance checks to enforce liquor sales laws in Calumet County in February of 2023.
Compliance checks play an important role in preventing underage drinking. “Selling alcohol is a legitimate business that plays a valid role in our economy. It’s also a privilege that comes with responsibilities. We’re simply asking that licensed establishments fulfill those responsibilities,” said Project Coordinator, Annie von Neupert.
REACH has partnered with Calumet County Law Enforcement to conduct checks and provide training since 2019. In that time, we continue to see more retailers selling responsibly. This time is no exception. We’re excited to announce that in the last round of checks, the majority of establishments did not sell alcohol to minors!
Thank you to the following establishments that did not sell alcohol to minors: Kazzmos, Stockbridge Mini Mart, Gobbler’s Knob, Schumacher’s Shanty, Cimarron, Blue Sapphires Cabaret, Waverly Beach Bar & Grille, Lake Park Pub, Silver Spur, Salt, Bobbers, Jeanne’s Bar & Grill, The Outpost Pub & Provisions, Countryside Bar & Grill , Sherwood Mobil Mart, Dick’s Family Foods (Sherwood), Dollar General (Brillion), Weber’s of Brillion, Kwik Trip (Brillion), Ethel’s of Brillion, , Marko’s Smokin’ BBQ, Cobblestone Creek, Braun’s Deer Run, Gloria’s Cantina & Mexican Grill , Split Happens, La Familia Mexican Grill & Bar, 4th & Five, Hilbert BP, 57 Saloon, Official’s Den Bowl & Spirits, The Local Lounge, Schmitz II, Chiton Eagles Club, Pla-Mor Lanes, Cheers of Chilton, Vern’s Cheese, Walmart (Chilton), Walgreens (Chilton), Rowland’s Calumet Brewing, Lupitas Mexican Store/Fast Taco (Chiton), Weber’s of Chilton, Ethel’s, 40 West, Hilde’s Deli & Bakery, Herradura Mexican Restaurant & Cantina, Kwik Trip (Chiton), Curve Inn, Twisted Tap, King’s Korner, Weber's BP (New Holstein), Kwik Trip (New Holstein), Blattner’s New Holstein Piggly Wiggly, Rocky & Tara’s Nut Haus, Two of a Kind, Schwarz’s Supper Club, Seven Corners Bar & Grill, Dorn’s Bar, Roepke’s Village Inn, Bobber’s Up, Quinney Quencher, Fishtail Inn, Gene & Helen’s Bar, and Neighborhood Pub -n- Grill.
“We want to make sure everyone has the tools and skills to safely and legally sell alcohol. REACH offers on-site ID-check training to anyone who serves alcohol in Calumet County. We’re also hosting a free responsible beverage server course in partnership with Fox Valley Tech on June 6 in Chilton. The course will ensure alcohol servers can properly check an ID, are
confident to refuse an alcohol sale to minors, and will fulfill their bartender license requirement,” shared von Neupert.
We all play a role in keeping the next generation safe and healthy. Thank you to all of the responsible businesses across Calumet County who don’t sell to minors!
